Jillian – Howard High School Senior Portraits

Last weekend I was met Jillian – a fun, bubbly, and so-sweet Howard High School Senior – for her senior portraits! Jillian is on the Poms team at Howard and she is friends with so many awesome people I know – Kelly, Zach, Zoe, and Christian! I love meeting so many Seniors!!

Jillian REALLY wanted autumn leaves in her pictures, but the entire weekend was pretty dreary, cloudy, and a bit drizzly – plus here in Maryland, we have almost no leaves left! So before Jillian came over, Justin and I drove around looking for colorful leaves – and we found some! So as soon as Jillian arrived, we jumped in the car and drove to first some red trees and then these gorgeous yellow trees off of the side of route 108. The yellow trees were PERFECT – so bright and vibrant. I am so glad we were able to find a little bit of fall color! And Jillian was so awesome – especially since we were photographing in a pretty busy locations – hundreds of cars must have driven past us! (My friend Syvonne even saw us as she drove by!). But Jillian was a pro. Next, we went to the River Hill Garden Center. It was Jillian’s mom’s idea and it was so perfect!! Jillian’s mom really enjoys photography also, and she had a good idea for great backdrops at the Garden Center, so we got tons of beautiful pictures there – even after the sun set! Even though it was freezing (and I was wearing a coat – poor Jillian!), Jillian did such a great job and I absolutely love her pictures.

Enjoy Jillian’s senior portraits!!

Cowboy

Glenn’s story is an interesting one, and if you have a pack of beer and some time to kill, he can tell you some fascinating tales.  My life intersected with Glenn’s before I was even born; it was the early 80’s, and my parents were building their first home together.  My father placed an ad in the local newspaper seeking help, and Glenn responded, telling my father that he was quite handy (which later turned out to be a supreme understatement).  That year, a friendship formed, and Glenn has been part of our lives since.  Glenn has worked with my father, a builder, and years later, he cared for my horse, Breeze, at his stable for much of her life.  I am so fortunate that I was able to board Breeze with Glenn, as he truly is a horse whisperer; he knows and understands horses better than anyone I have ever seen.  16 years ago, Glenn saved his beloved horse, Manoleto, from being sold to the horse meat market, then revived the dirty, neglected stallion and trained him over the next few years. The two developed a bond as well as a show routine, with Manoleto rearing to Glenn’s cue and counting out the number of beers in a 6 pack, among many other skills. Today, Manoleto is enjoying retirement with his best friend, Maggie, a paint, and of course, his longtime pal, Glenn.  Enjoy a few pictures of our friend, Glenn, the truest Cowboy I’ve ever met.
